Florida Fin Fest

WHAT

Florida Fin Fest is a 2-day event that aims to educate attendees about sharks and how we can better understand their place on Earth within the ocean’s ecosystems.
Free to attend, there will be activities for all ages including an interactive educational village, live music, a sustainability-focused festival village, food trucks, and more.

WHY

Earth is 71% water, but it is still one of the major unknowns on our planet. Apex predators play a role in every ecosystem, with many of those being sharks in the ocean. Our goal is to give you a new perspective on these feared creatures, allowing you to understand their place in our ecosystem and how to better protect their environment - the world's oceans.

WHO

OCEARCH is a data-centric organization that has enabled collaborative teams of leading researchers and institutions in partnership with Jacksonville University’s Marine Science Research Institute to generate previously unattainable data on the study and tracking of keystone marine species.

International Coral Reef Symposium (Online)

Welcome & Invitation

Dear coral reef community and interested visitors,

Due to continued infection risks and travel restrictions imposed by the pandemic, the 14th ICRS will be entirely virtual this summer from 19 - 23 July 2021. This meeting combines asynchronous (pre-recorded submissions) with synchronous (interactive real-time discussions) elements. We feel it is important for the coral reef community to have the opportunity to share their research findings already this summer.

We are also pleased to announce that we will be hosting an in-person 15th ICRS in the summer of 2022 from 3 - 8 July in Bremen, Germany. This meeting will include plenary talks, a policy event, social events, workshops, and field trips as well as in-person oral and poster presentation opportunities.

Both, the 14th and the 15th International Coral Reef Symposia, are the primary international conferences on coral reef science, conservation and management, bringing together leading scientists, early career researchers, conservationists, ocean experts, policy makers, managers, and the public. These symposia will be the key events to develop science-based solutions addressing the present and future challenges of coral reefs, which are globally exposed to unprecedented anthropogenic pressures. Both events will present the latest scientific findings and ideas, provide a platform to build the essential bridges between coral reef science, conservation, politics, management and the public, and will promote public and political outreach.

For the University of Bremen and us organizers of the 14th and 15th ICRS it is a great pleasure to invite you all to join these unique global events.

We hope that you will plan on attending both the virtual 14th ICRS 2021 this summer and the in-person 15th ICRS 2022 next summer.
